Portwiture – or Twitter with pictures

Sunday September 27th, 2009

Reading a post from Mashable today, I tested a new web application: Portwiture. This is a very nice, and very interesting application: you simply have to enter your twitter pseudo and click Go.
After a few seconds you become a nice mosaic of pictures picked in flickr, which match with the content you sent on twitter. Based on the more often used words from your last tweets, it scans the flickr pictures’ tags and link them.

This is what I obtained, using my twitter pseudo, @Othella:

Portwiture Othella

It is nice, isn’t it?
I just can recommend you to have a look at Portwiture.

And, for the last word, I just wish that the developers of this app will soon add an Export function. I would be very interested in saving my mosaics and compare them sometimes!

Ulmer Twitter Meeting: after a good first session, let's plan the second one!

Monday February 2nd, 2009

First Ulmer Twitter Meeting

As I promised it for a few days, here is the feedback of the 1. Ulmer Twitter Meeting, which took place last Saturday (31st January 2009) in the Konzertsaal, Neu-Ulm.

That was a really nice evening: we were 9 Twitters, all from Ulm and around Ulm:

As Twitter users who didn’t know each other, we first presented ourselves, then we had some drinks and food, and talked about our jobs, hobbies, Twitter use… Some of us had brought their notebooks, but we unfortunately, we didn’t manage to catch any Wireless Internet signal.

Nevertheless, we had a great time, and decided to plan the next Ulmer Twitter Meeting, which should be in about 4 weeks. We will use our mixxt page and some Doodle polls to organize it. We would like to organize a meeting such as a Web Monday, so our next steps are: finding a better place for the meeting (with at least WLAN!), fixing the date, finding more people to invite and deciding some themes we will talk about.

Of course, I will write a new post on this blog as soon as will have more informations about the second Ulmer Twitter Meeting!

Ulmer Twitter Meeting: the beginning

Saturday January 24th, 2009

The first Ulmer Twitter Meeting is now scheduled! It will take place on Saturday, the 31st January 2009, at 7pm, in the “Konzertsaal”, Neu-Ulm (in Baden-Württemberg, Germany)

Where comes this idea from?

When I first joined Twitter, I had no idea about what this new social network was, I just did it because a friend of mine suggested it me to it, in order to be aware of some news from a few popular personalities. Why not? I had one follower, followed about 20 people, read a few tweets a day, it was nice.

After a few weeks I realized the interest of Twitter and started to look after people living in Ulm (where I live). There were more people than I at first thought! So I proposed them to meet us, since we didn’t know each other. They found this idea great.

So we created a website on mixxt, where people could register, and then some polls on Doodle to choose the place for our meeting and to find a date.

Finally, we had organized our meeting! And this will take place on Saturday, the 31st January 2009, in the Konzertsaal in Neu-Ulm. If you want to participate, join us on mixxt and confirm your participation before Friday, the 30th January.

I’m very happy to meet all other Twitter users living in Ulm and all around. And my goal is to organize monthly meetings about internet, IT, web 2.0, social media, softwares aso. But first we’ll meet each other. I hope it will be great!

Of course, I’ll post what happened on this 1st Ulmer Twitting Meeting as soon as possible :)
